A 28-year-old housewife, Nur Faizah Wahid, was charged with RM10,000 in default nine months jail time for posting insulting remarks on social media about Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the royal institution, and ministers. Nur has pleaded guilty to the charges.
Nur passed seditious remarks on Yang di-Pertuan through her Twitter account under the username ‘Eija boo’, She was charged under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 which carries a jail time of 3 years or RM5,000 fine upon conviction.

The second charge made against her was posting insulting remarks related to King, the royal institution and ministers on the same Twitter account. She was charged under Section 233(1)(a) of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998, which carries a jail time of 1 year or RM50,000 fine upon conviction.
She was also charged for knowingly starting the offensive communication. Earlier, she pleaded for a minimum sentence and expressed shame for her actions. She said she is regretting her actions.
