Woman Who Killed A Pregnant Cat Remanded For Four Days

Kuala Lumpur: The woman who allegedly killed a pregnant cat by hitting her with an iron rod in a residential area in Jalan Pintas Kaloi, Seberang Jaya, Penang was remanded for four days by the Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court.

Judge Ahzal Fariz Ahmad Khairuddin allowed the application of the Department of Veterinary Services (JPV) to remand the suspect to assist in the investigation under the Animal Welfare Act 2015. The 51-year-old suspect is currently being held in a police lockup.

The incident, however, was noticed by a 30-year-old male technician who later lodged a police report, including reporting it to the JPV for further action.

The woman who works as a broker is said to be angry with the two cats who throw feces in front of her house.

Meanwhile, JPV Investigating Officer, Azhar Ahmad, said the investigation found that the animal was a stray cat and wandered around the area.

After receiving a report regarding the incident, they went to the suspect’s house to conduct an investigation, including seizing clothing and iron believed to be used in the incident.

He said the carcass of the dead cat was sent to the veterinary laboratory for an autopsy.
