Police have called singer Awie for questioning in a probe related to an alleged violation of Covid SOPs during an event in Melaka. Awie, whose full name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, had performed an event called “Satu Kayuhan Satu Zikir” humanitarian mission programme for rickshaw drivers.

Singer Ahmad Azhar Othman or Awie, accused of violating Covid guidelines, has been called for interrogation by Melaka Tengah police.

The rock singer and celebrity allegedly broke guidelines during an event for the humanitarian mission at a hotel on Jalan Hang Tuah.

As per the police, a number of people, including the programme’s organiser, will also be called for questioning.

A video of the incident shows Awie performing at an event, where people didn’t follow Covid rule, such as wearing face masks and observing the physical distancing.

The performance was a part of “Satu Kayuhan Satu Zikir” humanitarian mission programme for rickshaw drivers on Friday.
