Sports, Recreational Acts Banned In MCO Areas

The Youth and Sports Ministry has banned all sports and recreational activities in the areas that have been put under Movement Control Order or MCO in wake of the surge in Covid-19 cases.

The government has banned sports and recreation activities in areas put under Movement Control Order. There will be complete ban of events in commercial facilities, public facilities and fields. A special permission from relevant authorities will be needed to carry out any such activity, the sports ministry said.

There will be no sporting activities in areas like commercial facilities, public facilities, and fields, a decision taken by the national security council has said. Special permission will have to be taken in case a sporting or recreational event has to be taken place.

“The Youth and Sports Ministry made some proposals to NSC and they made the decision based on the risk evaluation done by Health Ministry, in line with the current Covid-19 situation.

“Our hope is to break the rise in new cases in the community, especially in the Klang Valley,” said the ministry in a statement.
