Kuala Lumpur: Russia’s former mixed martial artist Khabib Nurmagomedov has slammed French President Emmanuel Macron over his recent remark on Islam and defence on a cartoon of Prophet Mohammed.
Khabib, who recently announced his retirement from mixed martial arts, said that Macron has offended more than one and a half billion Muslim believers in the name of freedom of speech.
“May the Almighty disfigure the face of this creature and all its followers”, Khabib said in his social media post.
Sharing Macron’s boot-printed picture on Instagram, former MMA fighter further said, “We are Muslims, we love our Prophet Muhammad more than our mothers, fathers, children, wives and all other people close to our hearts. Believe me, these provocations will come out sideways for them, the end is always for the God-fearing.”
Meanwhile, Macron has again said in an interview to Qatar-based Al Jazeera that radical Islam is a threat to all the people.
Macron, who invited sharp criticism from the Muslim world over his comment on Islam, said that he still supports the degrading cartoons of the Prophet Mohammed.
