Kris Wu, the Chinese-Canadian singer, has been arrested on Monday over sexual charges accused by a 19-year old student. He was arrested after the Beijing based prosecutor’s office of Chaoyang was formally approved his arrest. The K-Pop singer, who has been facing a huge backlash, allegedly raped and lured several women while having relationships with them.
Former EXO member Kris Wu was earlier detained by the Beijing police on 1 August.
The 19-year-old student named Du Meizhu was the first who accused him of sexual charges, saying Kris Wu had assaulted and seduced her for alcohol when she was at her apartment.
She said that she was invited to his house and promised her to give a chance in the music industry. Du Meizhu said that she was just 17 when Kris Wu raped her.
In China, the legal age of sexual consent is 14.

Kris Wu, who also has Canadian citizenship, had sex with at least seven other girls, including minors, the woman claimed in her interview with NetEase.
Kris Wu, who also acted in XXX: Return of Xander Cage in 2017 with Hollywood star Vin Diesel and Indian Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone, has been under pressure since the sexual charges made against him.
Since Kris Wu was accused of sexual assaults, several brands, including Louis Vuitton, Bulgari, Lancôme, and L’Oréal Men have cut ties with him.
His Weibo account has also been deleted by the Chinese Social media giant.
Kris Wu, however, denied the charges and said that he had no sexual relationship with any minors. According to him, he only met Du Meizhu at the friends gathering and did not force her to drink alcohol.
