LRT Accident: Injured Victims To Get RM1,000 Each As Compensation

At least 213 victims of the Kelana Jaya line Light Rail Transit (LRT) will be received RM1,000. Prasarana Malaysia Bhd (Prasarana) has announced the special assistant today a day after LRT crashed on Monday night. The fatal accident took place due to miscommunication between two trains in Kuala Lumpur.

Prasarana chairman Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has confirmed during the press conference that a total of 64 are still in hospital of which six people are in critical condition.

He also ensured that government will bear all the medical charges of the victims until they are discharged.

Earlier, Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said that this happened due to a miscommunication at the base. He added that a driverless passenger train had collided with an empty manually-driven train.

The empty train was going towards KLCC from Kampung Baru towards 8.45 pm. He said that the driver of one of the trains could not ‘detect’ the other train due to a communication error.
