Kuala Lumpur: Pahang is witnessing moderate to heavy rains over the past two days that has forced dozens of people to leave their homes. Issuing the high-alert, authorities said the three rivers- Jambatan Gelugor, Sungai Lipis, Raub and Sungai Lembing are flowing above the danger mark, leaving many nearby areas to evacuate.
According to reports, more than 60 people have been evacuated since the rain began on 1 January. Authorities revealed that all the flood victims have been taken to the Balai Raya Jara in Maran and Balai Raya Bukit Lepas in Rompin.
Public transports have also been affected by heavy rains and floods in several parts of Pekan and Rompin districts.
According to Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM), the route between Sri Jaya Intersection to Gambang Intersection is still closed (both ways) due to a 2-foot water rise. In a Facebook post, LLM requested that consumers who want to go to Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur are requested to postpone their travel temporarily.
