Stop ‘Stealing’, ‘Buying’ UMNO Members: Asyraf Wajdi Slams Bersatu

Kuala Lumpur: The UMNO Youth Movement has urged Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to immediately stop any efforts to compete with other members if they want to continue cooperation in the National Alliance government (PN).

Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said the action could not guarantee that the cooperation between the two parties would remain if such things still happened.

Writing his statement on Facebook, he said “At a time when the atmosphere of UMNO-Bersatu relations at the grassroots is getting hotter and hotter due to the tussle and ‘theft’ of members, the Bersatu Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin should not add more oil to the blazing fire.

“Over the past few months, there have been many complaints and anxieties among grassroots UMNO members and leaders throughout the country who claim that Bersatu is brave enough to ‘steal’ and ‘buy’ UMNO members.

Some claim that everyone who joins Bersatu is paid up to RM100, each branch set up is allocated RM3,000 to RM5,000, ” Asyraf claimed in a statement on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Asyraf said the statement by the top leadership of Bersatu was not appropriate, and even defending the entry of UMNO members into Bersatu on the basis of ‘openness’ under one roof of PN will only cause the relationship between the two parties to escalate and escalate.
