A Californian woman is being called a “real hero” for fighting a mountain lion to save her 5-year-old son’s life. The boy was playing outside the house when the 65-pound mountain lion attacked him and dragged him for about 45 yards.
The incident took place near Calabasas in Los Angeles County on Thursday. According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the woman was inside her house when she heard her son’s disturbing screams.
She started striking and punching the lion with bare hands and somehow managed to get him off her son. A California Department of Fish and Wildlife spokesman described her as a true hero for saving the boy’s life.
“This mom’s an absolute hero who saved son’s life, there’s no question about it,” he said.
