Kuala Lumpur: Russian mixed martial artist and lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov has hit out at his longtime rival Conor McGregor following his brutal defeat to American Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 in Abu Dhabi on Saturday.
Taking a revenge of 2014, Poirier ended the game in the second round and knocked out the Irishman within 2.32 minutes.
The second round of the game went wild when Poirier’s flurry of punches brutally hurt McGregor. The referee stepped into it and stopped the fight after the crowd went crazy.
During the initial half of the game, Ireland’s McGregor was looking heavy on Poirier in the ring, with few amazing punches and kicks, but anyhow American professional mixed martial artist managed to end the first round with a draw.
Poirier entered the second round with a sharp strategy, landing a match-winning calf kick against his opponents — that barely left McGregor able to walk properly in the ring.
The revenge took place after almost six years when Poirier lost the game against McGregor at UFC178 in 2014.
Meanwhile, Khabib Nurmagomedov, who last year announced his retirement, has sent a brutal message to Conor McGregor after his shocking defeat to Poirier in Abu Dhabi.
After the game, he tweeted: “This is what happens when you change your team, leave the sparring partners who made you a champion and sparring with little kids, far away from reality.”
