Baby Elephant Hit By Motorcycle Survives After Receiving CPR

A baby elephant in Thailand was hit by a motorcycle, fortunately, he was able to survive after receiving cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

A rescue worker, Mana Srivate had performed many resuscitation attempts in his 26-year career, however never before on an elephant.

A video of the incident, where a worker was giving two-handed compression to the baby elephant lying beside him, has gone viral.

The mishap happened on Sunday when Srivate was called after a baby elephant was hit by a motorcycle while crossing a road with several other wild pachyderms in the eastern province of Chanthaburi.

Srivate said he wasn’t sure at first he could do it, but as a rescue worker and a human being, it was his basic instinct to save lives. Adding that based on human theory and online videos he gave him two-handed compression.

He further said that he got so emotional when the baby elephant finally moved that made him almost cried.
