Kuala Lumpur: President of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Dana White has confirmed that he will have a meeting with Russian mixed martial arts (MMA) athlete Khabib Nurmagomedov, who has announced his retirement from MMA after thrashing Justin Gaethje last October. Dana White, who wants to see him in the ring again, said that he is going to meet over his UFC future.
During the UFC 255’s post-fight conference, White said, “I’m giving Khabib some time to think this over. And he and I are going to get together and meet soon. So we’ll talk.”
Nurmagomedov had announced his tearful retirement after defeating American Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 in Abu Dhabi in last week October. Announcing his retirement after the match, Russian MMA fighter told the audience that he promised his mother that it will be the last fight of his career. “There’s no way I’m going to come here without my father”.
However, while speaking with RT Sports Nurmagomedov has recently dismissed reports of his comeback to ring, saying “There will always be rumours about my comeback. Because Dana White or other promoters who could replace him in the future will always want me to fight”.
“They always want the show to go on. But I have no plans to continue fighting”, he confirmed with RT Sports.
