Kuala Lumpur: In a very horrifying incident, a Filipino airline attendant was found dead in a hotel room’s empty bathtub. According to several reports, 23-year-old Christine Angelica Dacera, who received several cuts, bruises on her body, was murdered after being gang-raped.
The authorities said that the incident took place on 31 December eve at the City Garden Grand Hotel in Makati City, where she arrived to celebrate the New Year party.
Speaking to local media, Philippine National Police (PNP) said that the case has been closed as the police managed to arrest the suspects on January 5. As of now, more than 10 people have been arrested for allegedly involved in the gang-raped and murder.
Police said the initial investigation revealed that she had been sexually abused. The victim also had “lacerations and sperm in her genitalia” as well as scratches on her arms and legs, police said in its report.
On 1 January, police found Dacera in an unconscious condition and she was referred to the hospital, where she was declared dead.
Dacera worked with Philippine Airlines (PAL) as an air stewardess.
Dacera’s mother has urged President Rodrigo Duterte that perpetrators of heinous crimes must be brought to justice.
Speaking to Daily Inquirer, her mother said, “my daughter had been “treated like a pig” in the “barbaric” crime. Christine does not deserve this brutality … they need to be punished.”.
