Jakarta: In a horrifying incident, an Indonesian passenger flight Boeing 737-500 Sriwijaya Air crashed into the ocean shortly after taking off from capital Jakarta on Saturday. The incident took place en route to Pontianak in West Kalimantan province.
It is believed that at least 55 passengers were onboard.
Several media outlets have claimed that the plane fell about 10,000 feet into the ocean.
Several rescue groups have been deployed to search the missing people.
Multiple videos and photos have been shared on social media, which shows rescue workers are pulling debris from the ocean.
