Kabul Blasts: 64 Killed, Including 4 US Troops In Afghanistan

Kabul Twin Blasts: Atleast 64 people have been killed and nearly 150 have been injured in double blasts near airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. US’ Defence Department (Pentagon) has confirmed that its personnel lost life in the blasts, but refused to give numbers. The blast comes hours after many western governments issued warnings to its citizen to stay away from Kabul airport. The warning was based on intelligence that suggested a threat by IS-K – Afghanistan branch of the Islamic State group.

The blasts took place at around 6 pm local time.

Where did the Kabul blasts took place?

1st Kabul blast – the first explosion happened near the Baron Hotel, near the airport’s perimeter. The hotel is being used UK staff to process Afghans hoping to travel to the UK.

2nd Kabul Blast- The second blast took place soon after the first blast. The first blast was followed by a few gunshots, and the second blasts explosion sound. The second blast happened near a sewage canal, where Afghans were waiting to be processed, close to the gate. Reports said that some victims “were blown into the water.”
