Moscow and Beijing, in a demonstration of their strong alliance, have reaffirmed their shared positions on various global issues, particularly concerning the United States and the ongoing Ukraine conflict. This reaffirmation followed high-level talks between the foreign ministers of Russia and China.

Russia’s foreign ministry issued a statement acknowledging the similarity of their stances regarding US actions in the international arena, particularly those perceived as anti-Russian and anti-Chinese. The statement also highlighted the detailed discussions on the current state of affairs in Ukraine, emphasizing that resolving the crisis without considering Russia’s interests and participation would be futile.

During these discussions, China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi informed his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, about recent talks he held with US President Joe Biden’s national security advisor, Jake Sullivan.

Russia and China, often emphasizing their “no limits” partnership, continue to strengthen their economic and military cooperation. China has positioned itself as a neutral party in the Ukraine conflict while offering diplomatic and financial support to Russia as it faces increasing international isolation.

Wang Yi reiterated China’s position paper on the Ukraine conflict, which calls for peace talks and addresses security concerns of all parties involved, as per China’s Xinhua news agency.

The Chinese diplomat underscored the importance of the enduring friendship, comprehensive strategic cooperation, and mutually beneficial collaboration between China and Russia in driving the development and revitalization of both nations.

Wang Yi’s visit includes security consultations at the invitation of Nikolai Patrushev, secretary of Russia’s security council. This visit follows President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Moscow earlier in the year, during which he declared a new era of relations between the two countries. Additionally, it was reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin is planning to visit China in October, indicating the continuing strength of the Russo-Chinese partnership.

At the recent Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok, President Putin hailed the unprecedented and historical level of ties between Russia and China.
