New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Facing Sexual Harassment Charges, Announces Resignation On Live TV

Andrew Cuomo, one of the most powerful Democrats and sitting New York Governor, resigned from his position on Live TV. The decision comes days after he was accused of sexual misconduct by a probe panel led by New York state’s advocate general. Later, prosecutors opened criminal inquiries into sexual harassment allegations against Andrew Cuomo —- a leader seen as a powerful leader in United States’ Democratic party.

Andrew Cuomo announced his resignation on live TV.

“I think that given the circumstances, the best way I can help now is if I step aside and let the government get back to the government,” Cuomo said in a live address.

“My resignation will be effective in 14 days.”

It was reported earlier that New York state assembly Democrats were likely to go for impeachment proceedings against Cuomo.

A high-level panel’s investigation report, filed earlier this month, said that Cuomo engaged in unwelcome and non-consensual touching of women. The report also said that Cuomo made numerous comments of a suggestive sexual nature, that resulted in making a hostile work environment for women.”

The allegations made by 11 women painted “a picture of a pattern of abusive behaviour by Cuomo and his senior staff,” said state Attorney General Letitia James said, announcing the findings.
