Kuala Lumpur: A serious allegation has been levelled against a Pakistani colonel, who is on his official duty of UN Mission in Central African country Congo, for converting UN employees to Islam. According to a report, Pakistani colonel named Sadiq Mushtaqi has reportedly asked and approached some UN employees to convert to Islam.
New York-based International Business Times (IBT) has reported that Mushtaqi, who works as contingent deputy commander part of United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO), has asked few Christian employees to abandon their religion and accept the Islam.
The Christian majority of Congo has a less than 2 percent Muslim people in the country.
The report further claimed that General Headquarters (GHQ) has been set up an internal inquiry against Pakistan-based UN official.
However, this is not the incident when Pakistan-based UN officials faced such serious charges. Earlier in 2012 two Pakistani Formed Police Unit (FPU) were accused of sexually abusing a 12-year-old mentally challenged boy.
