Military Plane Crashes In Philippines, 45 Killed

A military aircraft crashed in the Philippines today, killing 45 troops. The plane burst into flames after missing the runway. The incident happened in the country’s south when the C-130 Hercules transport plane, carrying nearly 100 people, most of them recent army graduates, was trying to land on Jolo island in Sulu province.

As per reports, some of the soldiers also jumped out of the plane to escape what’s being described as one of the country’s deadliest military aviation accidents.

Photos released by the government show damaged tail and the smoking wreckage of the plane. The plane was taking new armed forces recruits from Cagayan de Oro on the southern island of Mindanao.

Those who lost their lives were recent graduates of basic military training and were being deployed to the restive island.
