Afghanistan: Pinjsar Valley Ruler Declares Himself As Caretaker President

Pinjsar Valley Ruler Amrullah Saleh has declared himself as the interim caretaker president of the country. He said that he is inside the country and will rule his nation according to the provisions of the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.

Amrullah Saleh’s announcement means an open challenge to the Taliban rule in Afghanistan. The Panjshir Valley is a region in north-central Afghanistan, 150 kilometres (93 mi) north of Kabul, near the Hindu Kush mountain range. Amrullah Saleh has his own Army for the region. Saleh has said that under no circumstances he will bow down in front of Taliban.

His statement comes as President Ashraf Ghani left the country soon after the Taliban recaptured Afghanistan after 20-year of the long war against the US and the Afghan army.

Declaring himself as the caretaker president of Afghanistan, Amrullah Saleh expressed his extreme indignation with the US and its allies actions in the war-torn country.

“Let him digest it,” Saleh attacked US President Joe Biden as the Taliban took the entire country under their control.

Amrullah Saleh, who belongs to Panjshir valley, said that he won’t kneel before the Taliban.

Earlier, he had said that he will never and under no circumstances bow to the Talib fighters.

“I will never betray d soul & legacy of my hero Ahmad Shah Masoud, the commander, the legend & the guide. I won’t disappoint millions who listened to me. I will never be under one ceiling with the Taliban,” Saleh had said.

According to reports, Saleh has also left the country along with Ghani and have taken refuge in Tajikistan.
