According to reports, The Taliban has sent a letterhead to the UN Secretary-General that has been sent to the nine members of the credential committee to consider the matter.

Meanwhile, the SAARC (South Asian Association and Regional Cooperation) rejected Pakistan’s demand to include the Taliban in the meeting as no party has agreed to recognise the Taliban as the new government of Afghanistan. According to reports, India has strongly opposed Pakistan’s move to include the Taliban in the group. The SAARC countries are— Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.
