Washington DC: Social media giants Facebook and Twitter have blocked US President Donald Trump for the next several hours, accusing the gross violation of rules and regulations. Suspending Trump’s social media accounts, Twitter and Facebook said that his posts are inciting the violence and raising baseless questions on the US electoral body.
The move comes hours after Trump supporters entered the US Capitol and created ruckus in order to overturn the election results.
“We’ve assessed two policy violations against President Trump’s Page which will result in a 24-hour feature block, meaning he will lose the ability to post on the platform during that time,” Facebook tweeted.
Trump has also been blocked on Instagram for 24 hours.
Twitter also announced that it’s blocking Trump from posting tweets for the next 12 hours and ban can be extended if he does not change his attitude while using its platform.
Twitter also warned Trump that his account will be permanently suspended if he continues violating Twitter’s policies against violent threats and election misinformation.
