The change of guard comes days after Real Madrid’s defeat against Atletico Madrid. Zidane was also facing ire due to Real Madrid’s dismal performance in the recently concluded Champions League where they failed to win the trophy for the first time in all 11 seasons. Real Madrid was beaten by Chelsea in the semi-finals.
