Anwar: Malaysia Poised for Economic Resurgence with Abundant Resources and New Initiatives

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed his unwavering belief in Malaysia’s potential to reemerge as a thriving economy, citing the nation’s abundant resources, skilled workforce, and robust economic fundamentals as key strengths. In a speech delivered during a dinner reception with the Malaysian diaspora and students in New York, Anwar highlighted the unity government’s strategic policies, including the Madani Economy, the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), and the New Industrial Masterplan 2030 (NIMP 2030), designed to facilitate this resurgence.

Anwar underscored the significance of the NETR, which encompasses catalytic projects worth RM25 billion, aimed at positioning Malaysia as a hub for renewable energy and green technology. He emphasized that the recently approved 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP) Mid-Term Review represents a substantial shift in focus and direction, aligning with the government’s commitment to good governance, democratic accountability, and the vision of transforming Malaysia into a vibrant, successful nation across economic, social, and academic dimensions.

Addressing the Malaysian diaspora and students, Anwar stressed their pivotal role in promoting trade and investment, underscoring Malaysia’s dependence on its capacity to attract investments and maintain robust trade activities. He urged them to be ambassadors of Malaysia, championing its ideals and fostering deeper understanding of the nation among their American colleagues. Anwar’s impassioned appeal focused on promoting trade and investments, aligning with his vision of Malaysia’s resurgence.

Prime Minister Anwar’s address at the dinner reception was attended by prominent figures, including his wife, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Malaysian Ambassador to the United States Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Abdul Aziz, Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Investment, Trade, and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz, Health Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa, Malaysia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Datuk Ahmad Faisal Muhamad, along with several Members of Parliament and government officials.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Anwar represented Malaysia by delivering the National Statement at the 78th United Nations General Assembly. Currently, there are approximately 25,000 Malaysians residing in the United States, all of whom contribute to the vision of a resurgent Malaysia.
