PAC Chairman Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin announced that the Health Ministry is expected to present its response to the committee’s recommendations next month. The PAC’s report, presented on October 30, highlighted issues in the procurement of ventilators, vaccine expiry, and over-purchase of personal protective equipment (PPE).

In the report, the PAC recommended a thorough examination of the warranty status of 136 ventilators and appropriate action against those responsible. Dr. Zaliha did not delve into specifics but reiterated the ministry’s dedication to addressing concerns raised by the PAC.

Regarding clinic repairs, Dr. Zaliha shared that efficient budget utilization enabled the restoration of an additional 75 dilapidated clinics beyond the initial plan, utilizing the allocated RM111 million. She credited good governance and prudent financial management for this accomplishment.

Touching on humanitarian efforts, Dr. Zaliha informed that applications for medical volunteers to Gaza are now open, underscoring the ministry’s commitment to global health initiatives. As the Health Ministry navigates these challenges, the focus remains on transparency, accountability, and the efficient use of public funds.
