115 Covid Deaths, Highest After October 7

Malaysia on Thursday reported the highest number of Covid-19 related deaths with 115 fatalities. This is the highest daily death toll since October 7, when 135 fatalities were reported. The new number of casualties brings the cumulative death toll to 32,942. Out of 115, 36 cases were reported as brought-in-dead cases. Meanwhile, Malaysia reported a total of 27,500 new Covid-19 cases, taking the toll to 3,496,090.

The health ministry has logged nine new Covid-19 clusters, four in the workplace, three in education centers and two in high-risk groups. There are currently 475 active clusters in the country.The current recovery rate stands at 89.88 per cent, however, zero new recoveries were reported.

Johor reported the highest number of fatalities with 25 cases, followed by Sabah (24) and Selangor (18). While Selangor reported the highest number of cases with 6,494, followed by Kedah (2,752), Pulau Pinang (2,422), Sabah (2,236) and Kuala Lumpur (2,092).

According to the health ministry’s official website, CovidNow, a total of 360 patients are still in the intensive care unit with 194 patients requiring ventilator suppport.

Meanwhile, a total of 67,416,313 Covid-19 vaccines have been administered so far under the national immunisation programme. Out of 67,416,313 doses, 27,059,395 doses were administered as first dose and 25,753,663 as second dose. So far, a total of 14,810,832 booster doses have also been dispensed.
