Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today announced that the Cabinet members of the Unity government has agreed to take a 20% pay cut until the country’s economic recovery. After chairing a special cabinet meeting, Anwar said that he appreciates his Cabinet colleagues willingness to make the sacrifice.

In a statement, Anwar said, “Yes, until the economy recovers. If the economy recovers in the three years, then we will review.” Further speaking on the speculations of him not taking prime minister’s salary because he is taking the finance minister’s pay, Anwar said, “It is not true. There is only one salary.”
The meeting started at 10 am and was attended by all cabinet ministers and two deputy prime ministers.
