Dewan Rakyat Speaker Azhar Azizan Harun has rejected to discuss the debate on the MACC Chief Azam Baki’s alleged proxy trading share in a private firm. He said that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri has the power to decide the agenda for the Special Parliamentary sitting in the Dewan Rakyat. While turning down the bid to discuss Azam’s case, Azhar said he does not have the authority to decide the agenda.

Azhar said that according to the standing orders, Prime Minister has the absolute authority to decide the matter of the debate. “Till now, I have not received any notice from the prime minister for the motions to be accepted. Hence, I have to assume that the motions will not be included in today’s agenda.”
The agenda of the Special Meeting of the Fourth Term of the 14th Parliament session for the Dewan Rakyat today was to discuss post-flood efforts, coordination of aid to the public and long-term flood mitigation planning.
