GE15: DAP To Field Two New Faces In Penang

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke today announced that the party is fielding two new faces in Penang in the upcoming 15th general election. Party secretary Lim Hui Ying will defend Tanjong parliamentary seat, while Syerleena Abdul Rashid will contest in Bukit Bendera parliamentary seat.

Tanjong parliamentary seat previously held by DAP chairman Chow Kon Yeow after her father DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang, who had a strong hold over the seat between 1986 and 1999. While, Chow administered the seat from 1999 to 2013 and from 2018.

In his statement, Anthony said that the list of candidates contesting were approved by both the state and national leadership. “So, there is no dispute on the candidates list and I hope they will receive full support from all party members during the campaign period,” he added.

Meanwhile, Chow will be contesting in Batu Kawan. The other newface candidate announced by the party is Syerleena Abdul Rashid, who will defend Bukit Bendera parliamentary seat.
