DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has accused former PM Najib Razak of distracting the people of Johor from the real issues. He said Najib’s presence in support of Barisan Nasional candidates is overshadowing the pressing issues at hand. Guan Eng said the use of the tagline “Malu Apa Bossku” by Najib’s supporters is just a distraction from issues like the rising cost of living and the government’s desire to impose new taxes.

In a statement, Lim Guan Eng said, “Najib continues to live in a bubble with BN as if he is innocent and free of the 1MDB scandal. The interests and livelihoods of 2.6 million voters are more important than the fate of one person convicted and sentenced to a 12-year jail term and a RM210 million fine, and who was called a national embarrassment by the Court of Appeal.”
He said Najib’s campaign was filled with self-interest as he wanted to escape conviction on 1MDB related charges using BN’s victory as potential leverage.
Lim further said that the tagline “Malu Apa Boosku” is against Islamic teachings, and he also questioned why Najib was allowed to campaign given his conviction.
