UMNO secretary-general Ahmad Maslan today announced that UMNO Supreme Council member Hizatul Isham Abdul Jalil has been appointed as the new Information Chief following Shahril Hamdan’s resignation. In a Twitter post, Ahmad said that Isham’s appointment is effective immediately.

Ahmad revealed that Isham was appointed by UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and his appointment is in accordance with Clause 9.6 of the UMNO Constitution.
In a Facebook Post, Isham thanked party leadership for the appointment and for trusting in him. “Despite various challenges and trials which we will face together at this time, we must not give up; this responsibility is heavy, even more so when we are in this defeat and hardship, “he added.
