Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today announced the new quarantine period for Covid-19 patients and close contacts. According to the new regulations, Covid-19 close contact who has received their booster shots now needs to undergo quarantine for only five days. On the Other hand, the quarantine period will remain seven days for fully vaccinated and those who have received only one dose against Covid-19.

Covid-19 positive patients for all the variants will still undergo a quarantine period of seven days, the Health Minister said. This is for those patients who are fully vaccinated and not showing any symptoms. Meanwhile, those who are not vaccinated or are showing symptoms will be quarantined for 10 days.
In a statement, Khairy said close contacts will have to take the antigen test on their own or at the nearest health facility. While those without symptoms will also have to take the antigen test on the last day of their quarantine period.
He further stated that the new quarantine period will come in force from tomorrow and will also apply on those who are currently under quarantine.
