In a statement yesterday, Comptroller of the Royal Household Istana Negara Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said that the king has called for a special discussion with Malay Rulers to get their views on the appointment of the next prime minister so that he can make a decision for the benefit and well-being of the country and people.

This is the first time in Malaysia election history that there is no party or coalition with a simple majority of 112 parliamentary seats to form the new federal government. Pakatan Harapan secured the most number of seats in GE15 with 82, followed by Perikatan Nasional (73), Barisan Nasional (30), and Gabungan Parti Sarawak (23).
