No Pre-Bookings Ahead Of Border Reopening In Perak

The tourism body in Perak has said that they have received no pre-bookings from the international visitors ahead of reopening borders from April 1. Perak’s Eco-Tourism operators said that they have to rely on locals visitors as foreigners are not showing their willingness to visit Malaysia.
The fully vaccinated locals were allowed to visit last year in October. The Owner of Riverbug Perak White Water Rafting admitted that before the Covid-19 pandemic they had lots of oversea tourists mostly from the US, Japan, and Singapore.

In a statement with Malay Mail, Riverbug Perak White Rafting owner Fara Zaima Usman said that they have not received any bookings from foreign visitors as some of the travellers are still avoiding visiting due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Hopefully, things will change in the future,” he said.

Last week, the Ministry of Tourism had said that Malaysian tourism players are ready to receive international visitors from April 1.

Ahead of reopening the border, the Ministry had told tourism players in a meeting to prepare in several aspects, including upgrading facilities to welcome international visitors.

Malaysia’s tourism sector severely hit since the Covid-19 pandemic began in early 2020. Millions of people in the tourism sector in Malaysia have either lost their jobs or left their professions due to pandemic.
