Three beauty products–NP Beauty FM Cream, NP Beauty FB Cream 7g and AS’S Beauty Night Cream contain a scheduled poison, according to the Health Ministry. The ministry urged the public to avoid buying and not to use these three cosmetic products as it could be harmful to their health. Health DG Dr Noor said that mercury is banned in cosmetic products because it can jeopardise the health and could damage the kidney and nerve system.

Health DG Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said that these cosmetic products had been cancelled by the Senior Director of Pharmaceutical Services. The statement further added that it was no longer allowed to be sold in Malaysia.
The sale and distribution of these cosmetic products are in violation of the Drugs and Cosmetics Control Regulations 1984.
An individual who commits an offence under these Regulations shall be liable to be fined a maximum of RM25,000 or to imprisonment for at least 3 years or both for the first offence.
While RM50,000 or jailed for five years can be imposed for repeating the mistake for the second time.
According to the MOH’s statement, a company can be fined up to RM50,000 for the first offence and up to RM100,000 for a subsequent offence.
