Perak Chief Minister Saarani Mohamad today revealed that the Perak Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah has given green light to the dissolution of the state assembly. Saarani announced that the dissolution will come into effect immediately. The decision was made to make way for the 15th general election.

In a statement, Saarani said that he had earlier submitted an application requesting dissolution of the state assembly, however no decision was made then.
“The Sultan decrees that any decision on the application for the dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly will be announced after His Majesty agrees to make a decision,” he added.
Toda, in a press conference, Saarani announced that he has received a declaration letter from the Sultan to dissolve the state assembly effecting from October 17.
