Rafizi A Bonus For PKR, Says Wong Chen

Subang MP Wong Chen said PKR needs its former vice-president Rafizi Ramli to return to politics. Wong Chen said Rafizi Ramli’s presence would ensure party’s chances at the next general election. Earlier in December 2019, Rafizi Ramli had announced a break from politics, saying that he needs to concentrate on a start-up project. Wong said Ramli is a proven politician, proven fighter and a great orator, which adds up in building a good image of the party.

In a statement, Wong Chen said, “Rafizi is a proven politician, proven fighter and a great orator. That helps build a good image of the party, so we do need these kinds of people to be back in the party. I hope he will be back soon but he’s still deciding. However, he will be a bonus for PKR for sure.”

Wong said that his return to the party would make PKR’s chances in the 15th general election “equal or better” than at the last general election in 2018 when Pakatan Harapan won power in the federal government.

However, PKR leaders seem confused over the prospect of Rafizi’s return to politics. Selangor PKR deputy communications director Zainol Abidin Mohamed is skeptical of his decision to quit politics, while Kota Anggerik assemblyman Najwan Halimi said he would welcome Ramil back into the party as he would play a major role in strengthening the party.

Rafizi Ramli announced that he was taking a step back from politics in December 2019. He said he was at a stage in life where he “needs to learn.”
