Sabah Pakatan Harapan is planning to challenge the legality of finance minister Zafrul’s statement. Zafrul also announced that an agreement was made over the tax payment at the time when country was under the emergency between 1969 and 1970.

“We are of the opinion that if it is true this gazette over the 40% payment was kept secret from Sabahans, an act of fraud has been committed on the formation of Malaysia through the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63),” Sabah PH said in a statement.

They further added that it will continue to honour the federal and state constitutions in pursuit of Sabah rights as enshrined under MA63.
