Siblings Charged For Threatening, Injuring Hotel Manager

Two siblings were charged for making death threats and injuring a female manager at Khalisa Restaurant in Jalan Raja Perempuan Mazwin in Ipoh on October 5. the 35-year-old S. Gunasilan was accused of threatening to kill K. Shanmuga Priya. While, his 42-year-old sister S. Eswari intentionally caused injury to the same victim.

Both pleaded not guilty when the charges were read out to them in front of magistrate.

S. Gunasilan was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code. If convicted guilty, he will face jail term of maximum seven years, a fine or both. Later, he was granted RM2,000 bail, after his lawyer said he has to take care of his diabetic father and aunt who is a heart patient.

Eswari, a former employee at the restaurant, was charged under Section 323 of the penal code, which carries up to one year’s jail or a fine up to RM2,000 or both. The single mother of three was granted RM1,500 bail provided she appears for the October 21 mention.
