UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today said that the decision not to collaborate with Bersatu in the 15th general election was the party’s collective decision. He said he alone had not decided to not form an alliance with Bersatu. He further said that the decision was made to avoide “bigger harm.”

Zahid reminded that Bersatu was formed to end UMNO and BN. “What’s the rationale of UMNO being pushed and forced to sleep with the enemy under the same blanket?” he added.
He said this in a Facebook post in response to the claims of party deciding not to collaborate with Bersatu with an intention to break the Muslim community.
Defending the party’s stand on Ummah, Zahid said, “The Ummah unification is even officially included in the Constitution for the sake of religion, race, and country and harmonised in the idea of a big united people part, BN. This is the solid foundation that fostered the stability and prosperity of Malaysia all this time.”
