Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has alluded to the possibility of a forthcoming cabinet reshuffle under the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. The potential reshuffle is, in part, driven by the need to fill the vacant position of Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, following the passing of Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub.

Speaking to the media after attending the Special Putrajaya Umno Leadership Gathering, Ahmad Zahid remarked, “Probably there is (reshuffle). I think it will be soon.” Responding to rumors of his appointment as the head of the Home Ministry in the reshuffle, he expressed his readiness to take on any entrusted responsibility. He emphasized that consensus within the Cabinet was crucial, and he was willing to serve in any ministry to promote unity within the government.
As the Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman, Ahmad Zahid also expressed his hope that the Federal Territory Ministry would be reinstated in the upcoming cabinet reshuffle. Previously, he served as Home Minister from 2013 to 2018 under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Additionally, Ahmad Zahid disclosed his intention to visit all 191 Umno divisions nationwide to address various issues related to Umno affairs, including legislative and political matters. He stressed the importance of personal communication and engagement with Umno members, reaffirming his commitment to this extensive outreach effort despite the considerable time it would require.
