British Muslim actor Riz Ahmed has made the entire Muslim community proud on Sunday by winning his first Oscar award for his short film The Long Goodbye” in Los Angeles. Riz, whose ancestors are from Pakistan, was born and brought up in London in December 1983. Riz, who also played a role in Star Wars, began his acting career from “The Road to Guantánamo” in 2006, in which he played the role of Shafiq Rasul.

Apart from this year’s prestigious Oscar, he also bagged the Academy Award, Primetime Emmy Award, National Board of Review Award, Independent Spirit Award, London Film Critics’ Circle Awar.
As a musician, the 39-year-old was formerly known by his stage name Riz MC. After recording the commentary rap track “Post 9/11 Blues” in 2006, Riz founded his own recording label called ‘Battered Records’. He even raised awareness and funds for Rohingya and Syrian Refugees children through his political rap music in 2017.
Riz’s name was included on the front cover of the annual time 100 list of the world’s most influential people. He got recognition with the hip-hop albums Microscope and Cashmere. The actor played roles in movies like The Sisters Brothers (2018), Venom (2018), and Mogul Mowglu (2020). He also appeared in British television series Britz in 2008 and Dead Set in 2008.
