Britain’s Novavax Vaccine Gets Approval For Adults Against Covid-19

Britain made two-dose of Novavax vaccine for use of adults against Covid-19 was approved on Thursday—making the fifth vaccine shots in the country. Nuvaxovid Covid-19 vaccine was approved by the US after months of struggling with development and manufacturing problems. The matter was clarified by the UK’s Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA. This came at a time when entire world is grappling with third wave of Covid-19 due to Omicron variant.

Novavax, which claims to be the first protein-based vaccine to be authorized for use in Britain, had earlier agreed to supply 60 million doses and collaborate in final -stage testing of the vaccine in the country.

“We are proud that Nuvaxovid will be the first protein-based vaccine option authorized by MHRA as the United Kingdom tackles this next phase of the pandemic,” said Stanley C. Erck, President and Chief Executive Officer, Novavax. “We thank the agency for its thorough review process and are tremendously grateful to the clinical trial participants and trial sites in the U.K., as well as the Vaccines Taskforce, for their ongoing support and vital contributions to this program,” the company said in its statement.
