Health director-general Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah today said that Covid-19 death rate 20 times higher among the unvaccinated population in comparison to the vaccinated population. “Our (health ministry) data shows deaths among non-vaccinated and partially vaccinated is 3,200 persons/mortality per one million population. Among the fully vaccinated, ” Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah added.
As a huge part of the population is already vaccinated, the Covid-19 fatality in Malaysia continues to show a downward pattern.
The national COVID-19 fatality records from January 1 to December 4, 2021 show that the highest number of deaths due to the virus was on September 11 with 592 cases; while the highest announced brought-in-dead figure was on September 13 with 176 cases, the Health DG said.
He also said that in 2021 a total of 24,014 patients died in hospitals, while 6,046 was the number of brought-in-dead cases.
