Former PM Muhyiddin Yassin has said that Bersatu is ready to contest the election against UMNO in the 15th General Election (GE15). He said there was no other way to avoid the clash as UMNO had decided not to join the party as a National Alliance (PN) coalition in GE15. His statement comes days after a veteran UMNO leader had said that party will not work with Bersatu in GE15.

However, he said that Bersatu has its own strategy and way to approach the people based on its experience.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin said that UMNO president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and the UMNO General Assembly have already decided that they will not work with us and fight against us (in GE15).
“Bersatu already has a stand, if UMNO does not change the decision … if we have to clash in GE15, we have no other way to avoid it. That is the political reality,” he told a press conference after holding a meeting with Bersatu leaders in Kota Kinabalu on Saturday.
