Khairy secured 48,250 votes, however, was not enough to compete with Ramanan who secured 50,943 votes. The result was announced by the Election Commission Returning Officer Mohd Jusni Hashim at the Petaling District and Land Office Complex’s Kenanga Hall in Sungai Buloh.

After the announcement, R. Ramanan thanked the electorates of the parliamentary seat, PH chairman Anwar Ibrahim and the party machinery for his victory.
