Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today promised the hawkers and traders to grant their request if they bring him back the PM in the upcoming 15th general election. Revisiting his days as a hawker, he pledged to champion their rights and to be patron of the Federation of Hawkers and Petty Traders Association Malaysia.

He said this at a festival organised for hawkers, small traders and micro entrepreneurs at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur today. Remembering his old days as a hawker when he used to sell citruses and fish at the Temerloh market he said, “What the hawker thinks, I have been through it before, that’s why every request made by the hawkers, I must approve.”
Ismail, however said he need the group’s help first to win the 15th general election. “Hawkers should use their right on November 19 to vote the party that continues to help and defend the plight of traders in this country,” he added.
