Malaysian badminton star Lee Zii Jia has appealed a two-year ban imposed on him by the Badminton Association of Malaysia. He is meeting with the management of the national body today to come up with a better solution. This comes after BAM imposed a two-year ban on the world number seven after he decided to quit the body and go independent.

Earlier, the Badminton Association of Malaysia confirmed Lee sent them a letter appealing last week’s ban. However, it is not clear whether Zii will return to the body or play as a freelance player under new conditions.
Yesterday, Youth and Sports Minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu said that a positive outcome would be achieved after a closed-door meeting with Zii Jia and Jin Wei.
He said, “I met our national champion and heard his ordeal. He will meet with BAM executives today and I hope both parties will be able to resolve this issue. It’s my wish to see Zii Jia training again.”
