This comes after Opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim proposed to have a public debate between the two on policy matters in the run-up to the November 19 general election. He wanted all the PM candidates to clash against each other in a debate before the polling day.

In a statement, Ismail who is Barisan Nasional’s PM candidate for the 15th general election said, “If we let him debate, he will give his promise, manifesto, even the moon and the stars will be promised. So I think it is not necessary.”

He said that in Malaysia government is formed based on the people’s confidence in the leaders. He said this after attending a briefing at the national police headquarters at Bukit Aman.
